Jurate Yasyavichene
urate Yasyavichene lives and works in Vilnius as any Lithuanian doll master should do. And it is very sad: her works are so popular among many collectors all around the world that often even photos of her new dolls reach her Russian admirers only after the works themselves are already sold. Jurate has made her dolls for more than fifteen years. It began with textiles, but in recent years her works became more monumental and harder – fabric was replaced with paperclay, though doll’s costumes and accessories didn’t become less refined. The faces of Jurate’s characters are easily recognizable – they are pale, slightly irregular, with thin features, and they are often thoughtful. Nowadays, Jurate creates series of dolls, among which there is one dedicated to Love in all its forms: a Love that's fragile, like a white dandelion, or a Vegetable Love - with a gaze fixed up, quiet, a little absent-minded and very natural with a half faded flower, forgotten in one of the many pockets of a cozy green dress.
